individualized approachHow a student responds to an activity determines what happens next in the session, not a given curriculum or set-in-stone scope and sequence. Because student need guides sessions, Natalie introduces concepts in a slightly different order, using differing materials and strategies, for each child. Educational therapy is NOT a one-size-fits-all approach! Sessions are diagnostic, prescriptive, interactive, cumulative, and in line with the tenants of Structured Literacy.

My daughter struggled with handwriting for years; after a diagnosis of dysgraphia and few school resources available we turned to Natalie. Within 7 months my daughter’s printing has transformed! She went from relearning letter formation to writing multi-paragraph essays. Natalie helped her learn techniques that stick! So grateful for an amazing local resource. -Pollock Pines Parent
We are beyond grateful for Natalie. She changed our daughter's educational path. She started seeing Natalie in 2nd grade. She struggled with both math and reading and was well below grade level. Natalie was able to teach her in a way that her brain could could understand. This understadning gave her amazing confidence in herself. She started middle school this year and we were concernced that the work load and curriculum would be too much for her. Using the tools that Natalie taught her, she has gotten all A's her first two quarters in middle school! Without Natalie this would not have been possible. - Parent of a Walnut Creek 6th Grader
Two years ago, my son, who was a first grader at the time, was struggling and behind at school. I suspected he had dyslexia and Natalie confirmed my suspicions after a comprehensive evaluation. She wasted no time working diligently with my son following research based practices and strategies to help him relearn all of his letters sounds in a way that opened the pathways to learning for him, Now two years later in 3rd grade, my son is on grade level and has developed strategies and skills to be successful in school. I can’t express the importance enough of early intervention and the positive impact it makes. Natalie has remained an essential part of his success. - Parent of a Folsom 4th Grader
Natalie is incredible. I brought my older daughter to be assessed when traditional reading groups and tutors were doing nothing to help her. We couldn’t pinpoint exactly why she was struggling but we knew she learned differently than her peers. After doing tons of research I found Natalie and I’m so glad I did! The assessment process was easy and Natalie was so fun and welcoming. She guided me through her strengths and weaknesses and was able to tell us exactly what kind of help she needed for her dyslexia. She referred us to someone who was able to help Ella grow leaps and bounds this year in her fluency and comprehension. When my younger daughter started showing the same signs and weaknesses in reading, I immediately brought her to Natalie. She assessed her and was able to start working with her right away. My daughter is learning new things every week and I’m stunned by the amount of growth she has shown in such a short time working with Natalie. She came in not knowing the sounds of each letter and in less than 4 30 minute sessions she was able to learn them all and more. My girls would be lost without her. She is knowledgeable and kind and such an amazing resource. I could not recommend Natalie enough! - Rescue Parent
My daughter was identified by her classroom teacher as potentially having dyslexia just before we went into Shelter In Place. I was fortunate enough to be quickly connected to Natalie. Natalie was able to assess my daughter during our quarantine, indentifying her learning disability, which was beyond helpful as we started online learning. My daughter quickly connected to Natalie, establishing trust. Natalie helped her understand her challenges and also all of her strengths. Since we started with Natalie, my daughter has shined. She had to start a new school this year and the preparations with Natalie over the summer helped to make a smooth transition. My daughter continues to grow and has improved in both reading and spelling. She is starting to become more confident with her reading, evening volunteering to read in class or to her younger cousins. She looks forward to her time with Natalie and knows it only brings her more success. I am so grateful to Natalie for her patience and expertise. -Walnut Creek Parent
My daughter’s progress in 8 short months has been spectacular. Her spelling, decoding difficult words and handwriting has improved significantly. She is eager to do her homework and for the first time there are no tears. She also feels very proud of her accomplishments with her confidence skyrocketing. Before we started working with Natalie, I almost accepted the fact that my daughter will never excel academically, but now with Natalie’s help I realize there are accommodations that can be made to help her shine. -Parent of a St. Francis 4th Grader
Natalie evaluated my child and created a cohesive plan to address his dyslexia. As a fellow allied health professional in a similar field, I felt comfortable with Natalie's plan and found it be thorough and research-based. Most importantly, my child absolutely loved Natalie and his work with her. He couldn't wait to see her and made incredible strides in an intensive, but short period of time (just months!). We cannot recommend Natalie more highly. - Parent of a Palmer 4th grader
Natalie Powell has our highest recommendation. Our daughter is a bright and articulate third grader that has struggled with reading and spelling. Natalie came recommended by our pediatrician. Natalie is competent, confident, and a phenomenal resource for understanding learning differences. We appreciate that in both the assessment recommendations, and in educational therapy, Natalie focuses on preserving, and enhancing, the strengths of your individual child. Natalie empowers our daughter to overcome the hurdles presented by her dyslexia and encourages her to pursue her passions (science and art). We could not be more fortunate to have Natalie on our daughter’s team! - Parent of a Palmer School Student
